Agapè’s food bank has been serving area residents since 1971. Open five days a week, the food bank provides free groceries to people in need or in crisis. We hand out between 800 to 900 food items a day. Each individual is assessed and those who qualify are provided with a minimum of 3-5 days groceries per month. The Agapè Centre serves more than 1200 hungry people each month and 40% are children. It is operated by a staff of 2 and at least 20 volunteers who sort, stock the shelves, bag the food and serve the clients each week.
Hunger doesn’t take a holiday. It is critical we keep our food bank stocked with fresh food and non-perishable goods to serve hungry men, women and children in our city. Remember that for every $1 you give, the Agapè Centre provides food to those who need it most.
