Job Posting – Volunteer Coordinator

Job Position:   VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

Terms:                         20 hours / week

Rate of Pay:                $17.00 / hour

Position to start:       A.S.A.P.

Languages:                 English, French

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Volunteer Coordinator shall assist by continuously recruiting volunteers for all departments of the Agapè Centre.  The Volunteer Coordinator shall ensure that all people are treated fairly and respectfully, while also keeping with the mission, goals and values of the Agapè Centre.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the Management Team
  • Attend weekly Management Team meetings and required staff meetings
  • Actively support actively and assist with fundraising events/activities and special projects
  • Continuously recruit volunteers by way of Social Media and/or public presentations
  • Assesse the need for volunteers to enhance the Agapè Centre’s service delivery
  • Develop, implement and promote a volunteer recruitment and retention plan
  • Develop an effective system to appoint volunteers with the right skillset in every department
  • Engage businesses and local college to attract highly capable students from a variety of fields
  • Adhere to an intake protocol with all applicant volunteer
  • Ensure scheduling of volunteers meets the needs of both the individual and the assigned department
  • Adhere to the screening process in accordance to the Policies and Procedures of the Agapè Centre
  • Assist with the continued review of the Volunteer Manual to reflect updates
  • Orient all new Volunteers by giving them a tour of the building and introducing them to Management Team, employees and volunteers
  • Appoint volunteers to their department and ensure they receive training and are understanding their role
  • Assist with conflict resolution, as required, according to established procedure
  • Ensure volunteers work in a safe, healthy and supportive environment in accordance with all appropriate legislation and regulation
  • Plan and implement formal and informal volunteer recognition activities to recognize the contribution of volunteers at the Agapè Centre
  • Ensure ongoing and regular communication with volunteers as a valued member of the Agapè Centre

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in working with volunteers will be considered an asset
  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attentive to details
  • Team player, supportive of employees and volunteers
  • Able to work independently and to problem-solve
  • Proficient in both official languages
  • Flexibility to attend evening and weekend events
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Programs
