Major Success for Major Midget Colts in Charity Game!!

Major Midget Colts

The Major Midget Cornwall Colts were hosting the South Dundas Lions for an exhibition game to support the Agapè Centre- and what a success it was!!

A large crowd came to support the players but they also made sure to have some food items to donate and as such, 2 large bins were filled to the top which will go a long way in this time of need!!

Cornwall Head coach Raymond Landry and Coach Shawn Primeau were the leaders for this idea and on top of that, they were rewarded with a 7-3 win!!

Maxime Paquette lead the offensive charge for the Colts with a hat trick while Brock Dazé had 3 assists. Ryan Thomas scored twice while Brian Landry had 2 helpers. Other goals for Cornwall went to Alex Primeau-Wilson (Short-handed) and Colin Allaire. Kris Villeneuve managed an assist on a Power-play goal.

Samuel Dussault & Joey Lamarche shared the duties in front of the net for the Colts. But the win was really a team effort. Jeff Dobson was a rock on the blue line while Colin Mcdonald continued to be an anchor on the blue. Daniel Pilon made his physical presence known to the opposition while Kyle Howes & Mikael Dobson blocked several shots in front of the net. Kyle Quesnel was instrumental on the penalty killing unit.

The team would like to thank all that donated to the Agapè Center and supported the game!!!

Success with Peanut Butter!

Brent & Lynn Harper & Alyssa Blais

Brent Harper – Cornwall’s Clean Water Guy – and his fiance Lynn stopped in the Agapè Centre and donated funds for the Peanut Butter Campaign! The Agapè Centre needed 200 jars of 1KG Peanut Butter for the Children’s Christmas Baskets and with their donation, we can purchase the 75 jars of Peanut Butter that was left to buy. We have reached our goal of 200 jars. This is so fantastic and we want to thank all the people who donated peanut butter to the cause. We cannot thank people enough. It has been a wonderful few months at the Centre.

Rotary Interact Club – Kids & Food drive for the Agapè Centre

At Saint Lawrence Secondary School, Ilze Hillier, secondary teacher and Dean Stanley, Rotarian Project Advisor started the Interact Club at SLSS. Their first project with a group of secondary students was to do a food drive for the Agapè Centre. 5 weeks of soliciting family and friends to donate food! Success!

Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 12 to 18. Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance, but they are self-governing and self-supporting.

Union Gas $1500.00 Purchase

This is what $1,500 worth of food looks like! Union Gas went shopping Friday, August 24th and purchased $1500.00 worth of food for our food bank.

Kudos goes to Jake Lapierre, from Union Gas who coordinated the shoppers. Head office provided the shoppers with $1,000 and the employees of Union Gas did their own fundraiser and topped it with an additional $500.00. Wehoo! The food was purchased at Justin No Frills, Cornwall. Thank you so much Union Gas! We greatly appreciate your support.

Food Bank receives a much needed donation!

$1,000 donation from Chris Quenville

Many staff members at the Agapè Centre were leaping for joy when Chris Quenville stopped in and presented a cheque for $1,000 to help with the food bank! Receiving the $1,000 is very much needed at this time of the year because this is a time were donations are generally at a low point.
“Our shelves once again are running low; at Christmas, people are very generous, and again in the fall, at harvest time, we see significant donations, but in between we see some very lean times,” explained Alyssa.
